PETALING JAYA (Sept 11): KLK Land Sdn Bhd has opened Coalfields Retail Park in Bandar Seri Coalfields, Selangor, with 90% retail occupancy secured, according to the developer.
The 21-acre development is KLK Land’s first retail project. It comprises a 2½-storey hybrid indoor-outdoor retail centre with approximately one million sq ft of gross built-up area and is directly connected to a seven-acre lake park.
KLK Land, the property development arm of Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KLK), said the retail park houses more than 100 retail, food and beverage, leisure, wellness and service brands. The developer expects the centre to draw about five million visitors annually.
Coalfields Retail Park forms part of the 1,000-acre Bandar Seri Coalfields township, which KLK Land said has an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM5.5 billion. The township is within the developer’s broader 6,000-acre development master plan.
“Coalfields Retail Park represents an important milestone for KLK Land and the continued growth of Bandar Seri Coalfields,” said KLK Land managing director Lee Wen Ling. “As Bandar Seri Coalfields evolves, we recognise that beyond homes, people need spaces to gather, unwind, celebrate and share everyday life,” she added.
KLK Land said the development has received provisional GreenRE Gold certification under the Non-Residential Building category. The developer said it is also undertaking infrastructure works to support visitor traffic and the township’s future expansion, including the progressive widening of access roads along Federal Route 54 and enhancements to pedestrian connectivity.
The retail park complements Bandar Seri Coalfields’ established residential precincts, 50-acre Central Park, residents’ clubhouse, recreational facilities and educational institutions, including Wesley Methodist School and Sekolah Menengah Akademik Kuen Cheng.
According to KLK Land, Coalfields Retail Park’s tenant and attraction mix includes Village Grocer, MR DIY, Babyshop, Skechers, Decathlon, KKV, Harvey Norman, McDonald’s, Harborland indoor children’s playground, Blue Ice Skating Rink and Anytime Fitness. Skechers operates its largest store in Southeast Asia at the retail park, while Maybank has opened its first branch in the area.
The opening follows KLK Land’s April update that Coalfields Retail Park had secured approximately 85% occupancy ahead of its planned opening, indicating a five-percentage-point increase in occupancy by its official launch.
