Average total household income in Taiwan was NT$1,529,000 (US$48,009) last year, up 3.3 per cent from a year earlier, the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) said. Median disposable household income stood at NT$1,018,000, a 3.4 per cent increase. Employee compensation remained the primary source of household income, though regional disparities were pronounced. Hsinchu City and Hsinchu County recorded the highest average total household incomes at NT$2,042,000 and NT$2,007,000 respectively, reflecting the dominance of the high-paying technology sector, which boosted salaries, overtime pay and year-end bonuses.
