Sime Darby Property wins silver at Asia ESG Positive Impact Awards for Hamilton Biodiversity Park

Sime Darby Property Bhd has been awarded silver in the Biodiversity Conservation category at the Asia ESG Positive Impact Awards 2026 for its Hamilton Biodiversity Park. The awards, organised under the Asia ESG Positive Impact Consortium, recognise organisations across Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines for their commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance principles.

Hamilton Biodiversity Park spans approximately 284 acres within Sime Darby Property's Hamilton Nilai City township. The park is being restored from a degraded landscape into a functioning ecological area that supports habitat preservation and ecosystem regeneration. Located between the Galla Permanent Forest Reserve and a growing industrial township, the park also contributes to strengthening ecological connectivity through planned features such as a biodiversity corridor and nature trail.

The Biodiversity Conservation category recognises organisations that have implemented projects to conserve, restore and regenerate ecosystems while supporting their long-term sustainability, stated Sime Darby Property via a media release on Oct 6.

“As a real estate player, our work goes beyond creating homes and townships. We also have a responsibility to consider the natural ecosystems that support the communities around them. Through Hamilton Biodiversity Park, we aim to contribute to biodiversity conservation in a way that complements development and supports our Purpose of Driving Real Estate as a Value Multiplier for People, Businesses, Economies and the Planet,” said Datuk Lai Shu Wei, chief marketing & sales officer of Sime Darby Property.

“We thank A-EPIC and the judging panel for this recognition. It encourages us to continue incorporating biodiversity considerations into our developments and strengthening the role that nature plays within our communities,” Lai added. The awards provide a platform for organisations to share best practices and encourage collaboration on climate resilience, responsible business, social equity and sustainable development across the region.
