Sansiri warns of challenging H2 for Thailand residential market

Thailand's residential market will face a tough second half of 2026, with financial strength and brand credibility becoming key for homebuyers. SET-listed developer Sansiri issued the warning, highlighting that investment-grade ratings will matter more as the market remains challenging.

The residential market in Thailand will remain challenging in the second half of 2026, with financial strength, brand credibility and investment-grade ratings becoming increasingly important to homebuyers, according to SET-listed developer Sansiri.

The warning from the Bangkok-based developer, whose shares trade on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, underscores the headwinds facing the country's housing sector. Sansiri said purchasers are becoming more discerning as economic conditions remain difficult, placing a premium on developers with solid financial backing and strong reputations.

Homebuilders that can demonstrate financial stability and maintain high credit ratings are expected to have an advantage in attracting buyers during the period. The statement from Sansiri suggests that smaller or less well-capitalised developers may struggle to compete for market share in the current environment.
