PETALING JAYA (Oct 5): S P Setia Bhd and clean energy solutions company Gentari, through its subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore a strategic collaboration in clean energy and green mobility solutions, including the potential deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at selected Setia developments.
According to a media release, the parties will discuss opportunities relating to the identification, feasibility assessment, installation, operation and maintenance of EV charging facilities at identified Setia sites. The collaboration also contemplates joint efforts to promote EV adoption, improve visibility and access to EV charging infrastructure, and explore future business collaboration in clean energy and green mobility solutions across the Setia group.
Setia president and CEO Datuk Zaini Yusoff said the MoU reflects the developer’s continued focus on creating sustainable communities and enriching lifestyles across its residential, commercial and integrated township developments. “As a leading township and community developer, Setia has a responsibility to shape future-ready environments that enable more sustainable, connected and liveable lifestyles. Making EV charging more accessible within our townships is a practical step towards accelerating the shift to greener mobility, helping reduce reliance on petrol, lower vehicle emissions and support Malaysia’s transition towards a lower-carbon future. It also strengthens the value proposition of our existing developments by enhancing everyday convenience, amenities and liveability for the communities that already call Setia home,” he said.
Zaini added that through the collaboration with Gentari, Setia aims to turn sustainability ambitions into practical solutions that create lasting value for residents and developments, while reinforcing its position as a progressive developer building resilient communities for the future.

Through our collaboration with Setia, we are exploring how charging infrastructure can be integrated into thriving communities across Setia's townships and developments, making EV adoption more practical and convenient for residents and visitors while supporting Malaysia's transition towards a lower-carbon future,” Fadzrul said.
