The family of late property tycoon Chng has put his freehold bungalow in Singapore's prime District 11 on the market at S$83 million, or S$1,605 per square foot, according to a listing on real estate portal PropertyGuru.

The 51,700 sq ft (4,803 sq m) property is being marketed through a public tender ending Nov 12, with Knight Frank Singapore acting as the exclusive agent. The site has around 58 metres of road frontage and a regular-shaped plot, offering flexibility for redevelopment.

The bungalow is located close to the Singapore Island Country Club (Bukit Location) and Keppel Club, as well as the MacRitchie Reservoir and Singapore Botanic Gardens. It was built in 1937 and acquired by Chng in the early 1970s, who lived there with his family until his death.

Chng, founder of CGH Group, passed away in August 2024 at the age of 90, according to EdgeProp Singapore. The bungalow was first put on the market last May at S$82 million, or S$1,586 per square foot, but was later withdrawn by the family.

Chng had his start in the construction industry building public Housing & Development Board flats in the 1960s before becoming a property developer in the 1980s, according to The Business Times. Developments by companies under CGH Group include Paya Ubi Industrial Park in District 14 and CGH Building on Killiney Road, as well as Orchid Hotel in Tanjong Pagar, which was sold for S$273 million earlier this year.
