Chon Buri leads Eastern Economic Corridor housing recovery: REIC
The residential market in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor is showing signs of recovery, though gains remain concentrated in Chon Buri, according to the Real Estate Information Center. The agency's data points to a tentative upturn in the region's housing sector.
The residential property market in Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) provinces is showing signs of a recovery, though the improvement remains concentrated in Chon Buri, according to the Real Estate Information Center (REIC).
The state housing agency said the pick-up is uneven across the three EEC provinces, with Chon Buri leading the way. The other two provinces in the corridor – Rayong and Chachoengsao – have yet to see a similar momentum, the REIC noted.
The EEC, a key government initiative to drive investment in advanced industries, has been a major source of demand for housing in the region. The recovery in Chon Buri, which includes the beach resort town of Pattaya, suggests a gradual improvement in buyer sentiment there, the agency said.
The REIC did not provide specific sales or price figures in its latest assessment, but its statement points to a cautious optimism for the region's residential sector. The agency's comments come as developers continue to launch new projects in the corridor, betting on long-term demand from workers and investors drawn by the EEC's infrastructure build-out.
The concentration of the recovery in Chon Buri, however, highlights the uneven nature of the market's rebound, with neighbouring provinces still facing softer conditions.
