Hilton has unveiled Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur, marking the luxury hotel brand's Malaysian debut with a 268-suite property in the capital's Golden Triangle. Located at 73, Jalan Raja Chulan, the hotel offers suites ranging from 80 to 745 sq m (about 861 to 8,019 sq ft), alongside dining concepts developed in collaboration with chefs Garima Arora and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, a two-floor spa and event facilities.

In a statement on Friday (Oct 30), Hilton said the all-suite property was designed with longer stays and multigenerational travel in mind, with spaces for living and rest. "Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur carries that legacy forward in the heart of the Golden Triangle, with an all-suite experience that brings a distinctive residential character to one of Asia's most dynamic cities," said Hilton president for Asia Pacific Alan Watts.

Designed by Deboss Collective, the suites incorporate natural stone, timber, woven textiles and handcrafted finishes, with joinery inspired by traditional Malay marquetry. Accommodation ranges from one-bedroom suites to the Waldorf Astoria Suite. Hilton Luxury Brands vice-president for Asia Pacific Candice D'Cruz said the hotel combined Malaysian artistry and craftsmanship with residential-style accommodation and personalised service. "What makes Waldorf Astoria distinctive is its ability to create experiences that feel both unmistakably of the brand and deeply rooted in their destination," she said.

The hotel has 3,745 sq m (about 40,311 sq ft) of event spaces for weddings, corporate gatherings and other functions. These include the 1,545 sq m (about 16,630 sq ft) Waldorf Astoria Grand Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 2,500 guests for receptions, and an Executive Hub for meetings. Dining venues include The Istana, as well as Indian restaurant Yaari, developed in collaboration with Arora. Collaborations with Vongerichten include JG KL, abc kitchens KL and The Bar by JG. The brand's signature Peacock Alley provides a lounge and social space.

The Waldorf Astoria Spa spans 2,275 sq m (about 24,488 sq ft) across two floors. Hilton said its offering includes La Prairie treatments and a visiting specialist programme covering areas such as fitness, nutrition, yoga and Pilates. The property's art collection was curated in collaboration with the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia and includes a 19th-century painting of Qajar princes in the lobby, alongside works by Malaysian artists.

A clock crafted in bronze and illuminated glass at the entrance to Peacock Alley draws inspiration from historic Islamic astrolabes in the museum's collection, while the lounge incorporates songket-inspired textiles. Hilton said reservations could be made through the hotel's website or the Hilton Honors app.
