NFD Korea Breaks Ground on 300MW AI Data Center Campus in Dangjin
NFD Korea has begun full-scale development of a 300MW AI data center campus in Dangjin, South Korea. The first 200MW phase has secured permits, a power supply agreement, and a general contractor, with construction starting in November 2026 and Q1 2028 targeted for service readiness.
NFD Korea has commenced full-scale development of a 300MW artificial intelligence data center campus in the Songsan 2 General Industrial Complex in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do, roughly 90km southwest of Seoul. The first 200MW phase has completed site acquisition, a power supply agreement with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), and building permits in early September 2026, alongside the selection of general contractor DL E&C. Construction is scheduled to begin in early November 2026, with Phase 1 (Building A) targeting a Q1 2028 Ready-for-Service (RFS) date.
A newly added 100MW phase has entered the permitting process following a local government agreement, targeting permit completion by December 2026. The campus will be designed with liquid cooling supporting up to 160kW per rack, providing high-density, AI-native infrastructure for large-scale training and inference workloads. DL E&C is currently in pre-construction on Building A of the 200MW phase, while LS Electric has finalized a supply agreement for step-up transformers to be delivered in phases from 2027 through 2028.
Momentum for the project has been reinforced by local government backing. A 2023 memorandum of understanding (MOU) originally covered the initial 200MW, and on 9 Sep 2026, Chungcheongnam-do Province, the City of Dangjin, NFD Korea, and EFD Co. signed a follow-on AI Data Center Investment Agreement for the newly added 100MW parcel. Site control is now confirmed across the full 300MW campus, covering Buildings A and B (200MW) and Building C (100MW).
CEO Choi Jae-woo said, "With site acquisition, power, and permits now locked down, and GC selection and local government agreements finalized, the Dangjin project has moved into full-scale execution." He added that the site's location inside an existing industrial complex offers low community-opposition risk. Lease negotiations with global cloud service providers and AI companies are actively underway.
The campus will reach commercial operation in stages, with Phases 2 and 3 also targeting RFS within 2028, putting the full 300MW online within a single calendar year. NFD Korea was founded by Choi Jae-woo, who previously worked at Amazon Web Services and DCI Data Centers, a Brookfield portfolio company. The firm also has an 80MW hyperscale data center under development in Yongin City, with construction beginning in September 2025 and targeting a 2028 RFS.
