MSCI data shows 13% Q2 rise in Australian property trades as Investa CEO to speak at Mingtiandi forum
Commercial real estate trading in Australia rose 13% in Q2 2026, MSCI reports, as Investa CEO Peter Menegazzo is set to appear in a spotlight interview at the Mingtiandi Australia Forum on 15 September. Menegazzo will discuss the firm's recent A$558m North Sydney acquisition and a subsequent A$1.8bn
Trades of income-earning real estate assets in Australia grew by 13 per cent in the second quarter of 2026, according to MSCI, some of the largest transactions this year involving Sydney-based fund manager Investa.
Focused on core office opportunities in Australia’s gateway cities, and build-to-rent strategies through its Indi residential platform, Investa closed on its purchase with BGO of 100 Mount Street in North Sydney in June, and has since struck another deal with the North American giant.
To map where the Investa team sees the next opportunities, the company’s chief executive officer, Peter Menegazzo, will appear in a spotlight interview at the Mingtiandi Australia Forum on 15 September, speaking one-on-one with the website’s founder, Michael Cole. Menegazzo’s team manages A$15.4 billion (US$11.1 billion) in assets.
The interview is one of three spotlight sessions at the forum, which is taking place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney and is expected to attract more than 200 industry leaders. Menegazzo will be speaking on the investment themes running through Investigated’s 2026 deal streak, with the interview streamed live on the MTD TV video platform.
Investa started 2026 by signing its A$558 million deal to purchase 100 Mount Street in North Sydney with BGO during February. The following month Investa won approval from the Central Sydney Planning Committee to develop its first co-living project at 140 Elizabeth Street, partnering with Japanese investors JR West Real Estate & Development Company, Sotetsu Real Estate Co. Ltd and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank on that venture. In April the company reached another residential milestone in Melbourne, achieving practical completion on Indi Footscray under its Indi build-to-rent venture with Canadian pension fund manager Oxford Properties.
During July Investa kept its deal streak going with another tie-up with BGO, this time to purchase a set of assets in Sydney and Brisbane at a combined value of A$1.8 billion. Then last month the fund manager announced it had sold 1 Market Street in Sydney, an office tower overlooking Darling Harbour, to the Investa Core Plus Office Partnership, capitalised by what the company termed an existing capital partner. Market sources have identified that partner to Mingtiandi as Singapore sovereign fund GIC.
Also appearing in spotlight interviews at the forum will be Brad Collier, head of diversified funds at Dexus and manager of the Dexus Wholesale Property Fund, and Steve Bennett, chief executive for direct property investment at Charter Hall, whose team recently launched the firm’s first biomedical fund.
