Fujifilm Corp. on Tuesday added two new products to its instax line: the palm-top digital camera instax Pal 2, and the instax Link WIDE 2 smartphone printer. The company said the two devices will be available in Japan early next month. Fujifilm Philippines, Inc. has also teased the products on its social media pages, which means a local release is happening.

Based on the Fujifilm US website, the suggested retail price for the Pal 2 is US$169.95 (about P10,700), while the Link WIDE 2 could be priced at US$179.95 (about P11,300). The instax Pal 2 is a successor to the instax Pal launched in October 2023, which is the first model in the instax series that specialises in taking pictures and removes the instant printing function for a compact size.

It features an updated rectangular design reminiscent of classic analog cameras that is in line with the retro keychain camera trend, as well as enhanced functionality. “A top-mounted monitor enables users to check captured images immediately after shooting, while a newly equipped viewfinder, control dial and lever provide a richer photographic experience unique to a camera,” it said. “With a premium semi-matte finish and refined styling, the Pal 2 is designed to complement a wide range of lifestyles and be carried as part of everyday fashion.”

Image quality has been upgraded on the instax Pal 2 as it is equipped with a 10-megapixel (MP) 1/3.06-inch image sensor versus the 5MP sensor on the Pal. Its internal memory capacity has been expanded to 100 images from 50. Users can choose from four formats when shooting: mini (3:4 ratio), SQUARE (1:1) and WIDE (16:9) formats with instax frames, as well as a “No Frame” format (4:3). When printing, users can select the format compatible with their smartphone printer from the instax Link series or hybrid instant cameras from the instax Evo and instax LiPlay series.

“Users can freely select the format that best suits the desired composition and angle of view, expanding creative possibilities when taking photos,” the brand said. The camera has 30 effects across the five themes Modern, Y2K, Vintage, Chromatic, and Fantasy. Meanwhile, it also features instax Animation mode, which combines up to 10 consecutive shots into a flipbook-style video.

Users can transfer their captured images to the dedicated app via Bluetooth and then by connecting the device to a smartphone through the USB Type-C terminal. Wireless image transfer via Bluetooth is also supported. The instax Pal 2 comes in Black and White color options. It has a hand strap for easy carrying and a camera angle adjustment accessory.

Meanwhile, the instax Link WIDE 2 is a WIDE format smartphone printer that produces instax prints twice the size of mini-format prints. “Following the globally successful instax Link WIDE, known for its ability to produce large and vivid instax prints of group photos and landscapes, the Link WIDE 2 features enhanced design and upgraded functionality,” Fujifilm said. The dedicated free app for the printer has a new “Photo Mixer” function that automatically creates and suggests collage designs by combining multiple images, with users also able to add text and stamps. This also has a cutout function powered by image analysis technology.

“Making full use of the large WIDE format print area, the function allows users to bring together highlights from trips, events, and other special occasions that could not previously fit into a single print, creating a memorable keepsake that captures the highlights of an entire experience in a single print.” Besides smartphones, tablets, and PCs, the Link WIDE 2 can also connect with Fujifilm’s X Series digital cameras and the new instax Pal 2. The printer features a new body design with a two-tone color scheme. It is available in Duo Beige and Duo Blue color options.
