BDO UNIBANK, Inc. has introduced a self-service Currency Exchange Machine at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA T3) to give travellers quick access to Philippine pesos. The 24/7 machine, located in front of the BDO branch at the arrival area, converts US dollars, euros and Japanese yen into peso without the need for forms or teller assistance.

The machine authenticates banknotes, accepts up to 30 bills at a time, and issues a receipt for every exchange. It dispenses both bills and coins. Customers select the foreign currency they want to convert, review and accept the terms and conditions, scan their passport and capture their photo, insert their banknotes, and collect their converted pesos and printed transaction receipt.

“Travelers today expect convenience at every touchpoint of their journey,” Cora A. Mallillin, BDO Executive Vice-President and Head of Branch Banking Group, said in a press release on Tuesday. “With the launch of the Currency Exchange Machine, we’re giving customers greater flexibility and control over their forex needs. In just a few simple steps, they can securely access peso with no delays.”

“This travel-friendly innovation underscores our commitment to delivering competitive forex services right where clients need them, enhancing their overall travel experience,” the bank added. “As consumer preferences continue to shift toward digital and automated experiences, BDO remains at the forefront of providing easy, simple, and secure access to competitively priced local currency.”

BDO’s attributable net income slipped by 1.43 per cent to P20.61 billion in the second quarter due to higher costs and loan loss provisioning, coupled with lower trading gains. This brought its net income for the first half to P40.72 billion.
