The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) expects to complete the master plans for Camp John Hay (CJH) and Bonifacio Global City (BGC) this year.

“The publication of the master plan (for CJH) will be around October,” BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua M. Bingcang told reporters last week. The master plan covers the long-term management of CJH, which the BCDA intends to transform into a mixed-use district similar to BGC in Taguig and New Clark City in Tarlac. The BCDA formally took control of CJH last year.

Meanwhile, Mr Bingcang said the master plan for Fort Bonifacio will be finished by December. The master plan will focus “more on mobility, open spaces to address congestion” in BGC, he said.

The BCDA tapped SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co. to consult and conduct a technical study for the updating of the BGC master plan. The revised master plan for BGC will incorporate modern urban planning principles to make the business district more “people centric.”

Republic Act No. 7227 authorises the BCDA to transform former military bases into economic hubs that generate revenue and jobs.
