Pesona Metro 2Q net profit jumps 47% on stronger property development revenue
Pesona Metro Holdings Bhd posted a 46.7% rise in net profit to RM13.67 million for 2QFY2026, driven by stronger contributions from property development subsidiary Gaya Kuasa Sdn Bhd. Revenue grew 46.2% to RM255.56 million as project completion and sales picked up.
PETALING JAYA (Aug 21): Pesona Metro Holdings Bhd’s net profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 46.7% year-on-year to RM13.67 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 (2QFY2026), from RM9.32 million a year earlier.
Revenue increased 46.2% to RM255.56 million from RM174.78 million, while profit before tax more than doubled to RM30.97 million from RM14.45 million. In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Friday (Aug 21), Pesona Metro said the revenue increase was mainly due to stronger contributions from property development subsidiary Gaya Kuasa Sdn Bhd, underpinned by higher project completion and sales. It said improved margins from ongoing projects, alongside Gaya Kuasa’s earnings contribution, supported the increase in pre-tax profit.
On a quarter-on-quarter basis, revenue rose 32.9% from RM192.34 million in 1QFY2026, while pre-tax profit grew 35.3% from RM22.89 million. The group again attributed the improvement to higher project completion and sales at Gaya Kuasa.
For the six months ended June 30, net profit attributable to owners increased 56.7% to RM26.36 million from RM16.82 million, as revenue rose 39.2% to RM447.90 million from RM321.68 million. Pre-tax profit climbed 122.7% to RM53.86 million from RM24.19 million.
Property development recorded RM186.41 million in external revenue, compared with RM51.27 million a year earlier, while its pre-tax profit rose to RM42.97 million from RM8.38 million. Construction remained the largest external revenue contributor, generating RM249.57 million, slightly below RM256.87 million a year earlier. Its pre-tax profit nevertheless rose to RM11.92 million from RM10.76 million. The concessionaire asset and maintenance segment contributed RM11.91 million in external revenue and RM5.40 million in pre-tax profit, versus RM13.53 million and RM7.08 million respectively a year earlier.
As at June 30, the group had an outstanding construction order book of RM2 billion across seven ongoing projects. Including a new private hospital project secured in July, the order book increased to RM2.2 billion. Pesona Metro said the projects are expected to contribute construction revenue in FY2026, while concessionaire and maintenance income and Gaya Kuasa are expected to continue contributing to the group’s performance. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the group expects satisfactory performance for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026. No dividend was proposed for the quarter.
