NexGen unit gives up wind contracts in Cavite, Batangas

NexGen Energy Corp.'s subsidiary Airstream Renewables Corp. has voluntarily relinquished contract areas for two wind power projects in Cavite and Batangas. The move covers the Asisan and Sambong wind farm projects, with the Department of Energy's approval expected in due course.

NexGen Energy Corp. said its subsidiary Airstream Renewables Corp. (ARC) has voluntarily relinquished contract areas covering two wind power projects in Cavite and Batangas.

“Please be advised that the company (NexGen) was notified by its subsidiary, Airstream Renewables Corp. (‘ARC’), in regard to ARC’s voluntary relinquishment of the contract areas under WESC Nos. 2023-12-356 and 2024-02-373 for the exclusive right to develop the Asisan Wind Farm Power Project and Sambong Wind Farm Power Project,” NexGen said in a Sept. 22 regulatory filing.

The contract area for the Asisan wind project covers portions of Tagaytay City, Mendez, and Alfonso in Cavite, according to the disclosure.

The Sambong wind project covers portions of Tagaytay City and Alfonso in Cavite, as well as Laurel and Nasugbu in Batangas, the company said.

NexGen said the Department of Energy’s approval of the voluntary relinquishment would be issued in due course.
