EQT, Alyssa and Colliers Executives to Headline Mingtiandi Tokyo Forum 2026

Mingtiandi's third annual Tokyo Forum 2026 will feature a keynote panel bringing together some of the most active investors in Japan's income-earning property market, which has led all Asia Pacific markets with US$10.8 billion in trades this year, according to MSCI. The full-day event will be held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Tokyo, with more than 200 industry leaders already registered.

Appearing in the keynote panel will be Michio Matsumoto, managing director and head of Japan at EQT Real Estate; Chedli Boujellabia, managing partner and CEO of Alyssa Partners; and Theo Novak, managing director with the Asia Pacific Capital Markets team at Colliers. The discussion will span topics from Japan's macroeconomic outlook to approaches for boosting yields amid rising interest rates.

EQT's Matsumoto took the helm of the Swedish private equity giant's Japan real estate business last year. EQT has around US$59 billion in real estate assets under management globally and continues to target Japanese commercial real estate, betting that rising construction costs will limit supply and drive prices for existing assets higher. Alyssa's Boujellabia brings the perspective of one of Tokyo's most successful asset managers, having invested alongside AXA IM Alts, Blackstone, Invesco and Morgan Stanley on transactions in Japan. Novak joined Colliers earlier this year and now directs strategy for the company's Asia Pacific capital markets team.

The forum programme also includes a panel discussion on strategies for investing in residential real estate across the Asia Pacific region, set for 14:45 and moderated by Steven Bass, head of Japan investments at Link Real Estate Partners. Panellists include Aaron Lee, founder and CEO of Dash Living, which last month agreed to buy an apartment tower in Tokyo from M&G for JPY 38 billion (US$241.3 million); Terence Lo, managing director of Arch Capital; Dr Sabine Schaeffer of Pro-invest Group; and Gloria Liu, a partner and head of Japan at APLUS Property Investment Holdings.

Tickets to the forum are still available and the full event will be streamed live on Mingtiandi's MTD TV video platform. In addition to the keynote and residential panels, the 10-session programme covers hospitality investment, commercial deal-making and more, along with spotlight interviews with senior executives from Ichigo Inc and Eastgate Group.
