PETALING JAYA (Oct 2): Country Heights Holdings Bhd (CHHB) said its approximately 80.90%-owned subsidiary Golden Horse Palace Bhd (GHPB) was served on Oct 1 with a winding-up petition seeking RM312,652.99, arising from two Industrial Court awards and accrued interest.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Friday (Oct 2), CHHB said Josita Ket Kang En @ Karlen presented the petition at the High Court of Malaya in Shah Alam on Sept 22. No winding-up order has been made against GHPB, and the petition remains subject to the High Court’s determination, the company said.

Case management is fixed for Oct 21 at 9am, while the petition hearing is scheduled for Dec 8 at 9.30am. The petition relates to amounts claimed pursuant to Award No 300 of 2025, dated Feb 27, 2025, and Award No 485 of 2026, dated March 17, 2026, obtained by the petitioner against GHPB.

The two Industrial Court awards were registered as an order of the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur pursuant to an order dated May 24, 2026, under Sessions Court Order Registration No T06/2026. According to the filing, the amount claimed as at Sept 22 comprised a judgment sum of RM279,510 and RM33,142.99 in interest, stated as calculated at 8% per annum from March 30, 2025 to Sept 22, 2026. The filing said interest continues to accrue at RM62.26 a day thereafter.

The petitioner, through her solicitors, served GHPB with a statutory demand on July 21 under Section 466(1)(a) of the Companies Act 2016. The demand required the outstanding sum to be paid, secured or compounded to her satisfaction within 21 days of service. According to the petition, GHPB did not pay, secure or compound the amount claimed within the prescribed period, leading to the petition’s filing.

CHHB described GHPB as a major subsidiary and said the total cost of its investment in GHPB is approximately RM219 million. CHHB said the petition itself is not expected to have any immediate material operational impact on the group at this stage. The eventual financial impact, if any, will depend on the outcome of the petition and related legal proceedings.

Apart from the amount claimed, continuing interest and related legal costs, CHHB said it does not currently expect further material losses arising from the petition. GHPB is seeking legal advice and considering steps to protect its interests. CHHB said it will continue to assess the financial and operational implications of the proceedings and announce any material developments.
