Chery to launch iCAUR electric SUV in UK in early 2027
Chinese automaker Chery will introduce a five-seater electric SUV under its iCAUR brand in Britain in early 2027. The launch comes three years after Chery entered the UK market and as its brands hold a 7 per cent share of British sales so far this year.
Chinese automaker Chery said on Thursday it will launch a new electric sports utility vehicle in Britain in early 2027, as it competes for a larger share of the UK's growing EV market. The five-seater SUV will be introduced under the iCAUR brand, three years after Chery entered the UK market with its Omoda brand.
Chery International, the export arm of the Chinese firm, said the iCAUR brand is currently sold in 40 countries. It will join Chery, Omoda, Lepas and Jaecoo brands that are already available in the UK market.
Chery's collective brands have a market share of 7 per cent in Britain so far this year through September, making it the top-selling Chinese carmaker in the country. According to trade body Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Chery is also the second-largest overall seller after Volkswagen.
The plans for a new launch come as European automakers struggle to compete with the prices of Chinese rivals and face tariff-related pressures.
